Be glad they are not saying now is the time to kill Amtrak.

To get a visionary leader they will have to pay him a visionary salary, too.  I hope he has enough say to improve the service.

If they have to pay $700,000 per year to get a true leader, who has vision, and guts, and is NOT focused on the NEC, than the price will be a very good value.

Yes, it is amazing, isnt it.  Those Dems can do ANYTHING! 

One problem with filling senior level government jobs like head of Amtrak is the guy or girl you want is already making 10x the compensation.

True,  but if someone has enough pension or "golden parachute" and likes the title s/he will have with the government, then money isn't that big a deal - the status is.

 

Senator Tom Carper (D,DE) had expressed an interest....

I bet the Hill Republicans will push a for Visionary to DESTROY IT.....

I don't, someone may - at least as a stepping stone to something more noteworthy

I agree, also impelement RCM system wide and restore full service dining on all LD Trains, including the Silver Star!

Former Norfolk Southern CEO Wick Moorman is probably the best man for the job, but word is he isn't interested because he wants to spend time with his family. But maybe Joe Biden could coax him to take the job!

I should become Amtrak Railcity the New Leader of Amtrak. I could do miracle at Amtrak, if being a President. I would change alot of things at Amtrak. Please Amtrak hire me.
