Metrolink F125 testing in Orange County
Author: CraigM111

Heads up: Yesterday I caught an F125 through Fullerton Eastbound (toward South Orange County) pushing 10 cars. Not sure about the testing schedule moving forward. (Cell phone video - sorry about the quality)

Testing with 10 cars?

up to 10 cars will be a future need, so test the new units to see what they can do.

Several of the 6 car trains on Orange, San Bernardino, IEOC and Riverside lines need more then the six cars right now.  Course the 7th car requires another conductor and many platforms can not handle a 10 car train.

During the start up of the Riverside two weeks of free service, had to go to a 12 car set and still had them standing.!   Riverside can handle a long train.
Could write a book on those two weekends.

I remember those Mundo. I tried to get on at City of Industry. There was probably 200 people waiting to board. Train pulls up standing room crush load already. NOBODY got off.

Didn't they finally make everyone get off at LA and cleared the platform before then allowing anyone to get on?

Would be great if they could run 10 car trains. Do they have enough cars to even do it on a regular schedule?

No they do not have surplus cars ready for service.  The test train cars are old cab cars that need some work.

Yes, for the free ride Riverside line, the last few days, they took the inbound train to track 12, unloaded, then took it back to another track to load.  That helpd a bit.

Fun part were those who rode out on the last train, expecting to have a evening back to LA.   Greyhound is your choice for the return.

The real test will be a 10-car train of all Hyundai Rotems.

Then why did they sell a bunch of passenger cars to CalTrain a few years ago?

They have been kept around for this exact purpose. For test trains only. They are not in revenue service.

Because they needed the money from the sale,  and some will say a lack of looking forward.  They have enough problems now of trying operate what they have.  To have a sucessful system  a large amount of capital will be needed for more locomotives, cars and DOUBLE Track.  Remember highways first.  We are not in Europe.

Nice unit, but the front reminds me of a car with headlights.

But the money did not go to DOUBLE tracking. It went to the BNSF to merely lease locomotives that aren't on the property anymore and neither are those profit gaining passenger cars. SCAX sold the passenger cars to CalTrain then gave the money to the BNSF to lease locomotives. STUPID!!!!!! Whoever made this decision should be wearing a paper hat flipping burgers instead of making executive decisions.

You are the one screaming and making the claims and hijacking a post for your own selfish purpose.

Support your claim. Give facts. If you can read, my claim (as you stated) is supported by actual events. If you are going to accuse someone of something, you better bring something more to the party than your opinion and unsupported jargon. Stop causing trouble on this site yet again. You are the type of member that their mission is only causing trouble. Do everyone a favor and clean up your pathetic act.
