I like the green one looking out the window. Unless there is a reasonable explanation (can anyone think of one) these two should be identified and reprimanded.

Chill out people! I think its funny how Amtrak employees are held to such rediculous standards by some here.. Heaven forbid a harmless game be played during down time. Have you never performed an unrelated task at your job? Never visited amazon.com or TO while on the clock? Prove to me these employees were neglecting their duties before you call for disciplinary action. At least theyre not on their phones.

amen to that , no one stays on there feet 8-12 hours , always had a nice experience with amtrak on auto train , balt to dc or balt to nyc , nice to see them relax

Thank you for your comment. I am so tired of the negative comments from people on this site. They must be a very unhappy lot. I wish they would go some place else or get a life.

Not long after hiring out with Amtrak a crew member caught me "Foaming" (I had sneaked a quick photo of one of the two prototype Hi Level coaches)  His words of wisdom:  The equipment can be interesting, and railroading in general can be interesting too-  but spend enough time on the property and it's the railroaders themselves that will prove the most interesting of all- "Pay attention to the people, son, THAT's where the gold is!"
I never forgot that conversation.  He was Spot On!
This funny moment is just another of the millions that made my career such a treat-

It could have something to do with keeping the kids riding the train happy. I bet they make a great conversation peice for passing children and I bet a few kids end up with a duck or two.

Yeah, he's been doing the duck thing for some time.  And, yes, it's popular- repeat passengers seek him out so they too can add their ducks to this odd collection.

Make no mistake, this is a long time RR veteran who's earned his bit of fun.  He cut his teeth working the SP's famous "Beets" back in the day...

Take it to be as funny as you want, but that appears to be the Conductor and his assistant not paying a bit of attention to the train.
If they're in TWC territory, the Condr. won't have a clue if the engr. is about to outrun their authority, or when he is supposed to remind him that they are getting close.
