Passenger Trains > Amtrak “what is it?”

This rotating light is on the engineer’s side of P42DC #14 on train 5(27) at Salt Lake City.  I’ve never noticed anything like this before, and trailing unit #64 doesn’t have one.  A leftover holiday decoration, or a new safety device?  Inquiring minds want to know!

Not knowing Amtrak's stuff that well, I would say it is akin to a blue flag...Maybe it is a blue flag and that's the only color that had laying around!

Amtrak uses a red light at some locations to signify that baggage personnel are on board.  Like a blue light which protects mechanical personnel, it means the engineer is not to move the train.

In the PNW it means that the engines are being fueled.  Almost like a blue flag but not as restrictive. It is just a light on a magnet 

Are we sure that light is even actually on the unit? I'm sure it's what was described above, but it looks like it's film of the reflection on the locomotive.

Does the 2350 Munich to Buchloe still run and with a 218?? Great train to ride after loading up with a few dunkels.......

Yes, it looks like those emergency lights they have been selling on TV.
