Passenger Trains > 1956 PV National Forum to make two trip to San Diego on June 15,

Pacific Railroad Society’s 1956 Pullman Sleeping Car, the National Forum, will be making two trips to San Diego (from L.A) on Saturday June 15, 2019. This historic railroad car will be connected to the regularly scheduled Amtrak trains shown below, but will only have passengers booking through Pacific Railroad Society (no Amtrak passengers). Fare start at $125 Round Trip for Open Section accommodations.

Two round trips on the same day, Los Angeles to San Diego, allow you to spend 9 hours in San Diego or make a round trip from San Diego to Los Angeles with time for lunch in LA. (Amtrak will no longer unhook Private Cars in San Diego.)

Good for your organization for running a trip.  We need to "show the colors".
I also have a private car, sleeper "Cimarron River", trying to run on Amtrak as much as possible in this environment.
To those thinking about riding this trip--do not hesitate, nor think you'll do it later.  Seize these opportunities now.

You are making the best of a very bad arbitrary and capricious situation brought to us by folks who want the extinction of operating historic rail cars very badly.  Those of like mind who destroyed Penn Station in the 60s at least did it for the money.

Cool trip idea. Unfortunately I am on a trip to Chicago when this happens. I hope a lot of people take advantage of this, so more trips like this can happen on this scenic line.

 

Don’t forget that traveling in a Private Car will allow you enjoy the open vestibule window at 90-mph.
