Passenger Trains > AEM7 motors arrive in EmeryvilleDate: 06/08/19 00:32 AEM7 motors arrive in Emeryville Author: WP17 A 7 hour late California Zephyr arrived in Emeryville late Friday evening with two AEM7 electric motors in tow. These units are destined for testing the new catenary that CalTrain is installing on their peninsula commute line. I headed down to Emeryville to welcome the units to the west coast and to get my attempt at very low light high ISO photography. Here is a small set of what I shot. Note that Amtrak markings have . been removed from the units although their Amtrak numbers remain big and visible.

A question or two. Are these units operable? If so will they be under power when testing or is the plan only to test the catenary? Thanks. No idea on testing plans yet.

The electric fleet is maintained out of Wilmington and Bear, Delaware. Just curious...... Date: 06/08/19 20:23 Re: AEM7 motors arrive in Emeryville Author: NGotwalt norm1153 Wrote:

I knew they'd gotten the rebuild, and should have questioned the source who said it was done in Chicago. Makes no sense now that I think about it. Apologies!

If they were ever short of cab cars, they could use one of these, even now. |
