MRS today (Brazil)
Author: pedrop

Hi, today I had a few hours to explorea bit more of MRS tracks in the Carandai cutoff.

1)  Carandai station at the end of Carandai cutoff. The location is known as FCY by MRS CCO system;

2) An empty ore approaches the crossing level in downtown Carandaí;

3) MRS AC44i 3455 and 3482 leading the empty ore.

4) The train entering the yard;

5) The road side of Carandaí station, now a police departmente and craftsmanship center

6) Not far from that location I found old FHS class hoppers stored at Engenheiro Drumond siding;

7) One of the old FHS class hoppers used to carry sugar. Now they ahve been replaced by new FDT class hoppers;

8) In spite of the age, this rail is in good shape at mainline;

9) The end of the line of the FHS class hoppers at Drumond siding.

Actually, that is a protection to the windshield from the ore stones in the loading facilities.

Nice to see PTC hasn't spread to South America.  Love those searchlights!

But MRS does use I-ETMS like the roads in the US.  :-)
Their signaling system controls are much different than US and they decided to continue using searchlight signals.
